Tips, Tricks & FAQs

We know that preparing your baby’s bottles is an important part of your daily routine, and you want to feel confident you’re doing it safely and accurately. Below, you’ll find some helpful tips and information about how the Formula Pro Advanced works, why it’s trusted by so many parents, and how to use it correctly for the best results.

How is the Formula Pro Advanced accurate?

Trusted by thousands of parents worldwide, Formula Pro Advanced machines are often described as a “lifesaver” and have received thousands of 4- and 5-star reviews.

Each machine undergoes rigorous and extensive testing to ensure it prepares bottles that match the water-to-formula ratio specified on the formula manufacturer’s label. In addition, every individual formula is tested to confirm accurate dispensing in line with the instructions on the packaging.

Formula Pro machines will never dispense less formula than the manufacturer’s recommended ratio. In some cases, they may dispense up to 1g more to allow for natural settling of the formula powder in the container.

Please also note that when formula powder is added to water, the total volume in the bottle will increase.

How easy is it to prepare a bottle?

The Formula Pro Advanced offers fuss-free bottle making for your baby on demand! Find the correct setting for your formula powder here. Then make a bottle by simply carrying out the below steps.

1. Press the "powder setting" button repeatedly to select your setting 1-10. It is essential that you choose the correct setting for your formula before making your first bottle

2. Press the "ML” button repeatedly to select the volume of water you want to dispense. ML size indicates water volume only. It does not include the volume of powder added when mixing.

Remember that when you add formula to the water, the volume of water will increase.

3. Press the "temp" button to select the temperature of the formula dispensed. The temperature indicator will flash when heating and stay solid when the set temperature is reached.

4. Press the "start" button to dispense formula. The Formula Pro Advanced will revert to the settings last used after it has been unplugged or switched off. You do not need to select a powder setting every time you make a bottle.

5. The Formula Pro Advanced will dispense powder and water together, then stop automatically when dispensing is complete. Some clumping may occur with some formula powders inherently difficult to mix with water - simply gently swirl the bottle before feeding your baby to ensure the formula powder is fully mixed.

Is it a safe way to prepare formula?

Yes, we believe so, but not everyone agrees so we encourage every user to decide what is right for them and their family. The Formula Pro Advanced offers a hygienic alternative for formula preparation:

1. Powder
Powder is kept dry until needed and is free from human contact. Powder is simply poured from the tin into the clean, dry milk container.  The powder container should be cleaned monthly then left to completely air dry and once completely dry it can be reassembled. The powder can then be stored away in a way that does not promote bacteria.

2. Water
Pre-boiled, cooled water is added to the water tank. The water container should be cleaned monthly either by hand in hot soapy water. It should be left to air dry before reusing. The water should be replaced every 24 hours to ensure it remains fresh and clean. Filling the tank with enough water for a days bottles is a simple way to ensure it is changed regularly. Monthly, you should descale your Formula Pro Advanced to prevent bacteria inside your machine. Find descaling information here.

3. Formula preparation
The water is delivered between room temperature - slightly above body temperature (approx. 40°C) according to the user’s choice. The formula drops into the funnel and both mix together in the funnel before passing into the bottle. After every 4 bottles made the funnel warning light appears to remind the consumer to remove the funnel and clean it. The funnel is cleaned in warm soapy water and aired dried to prevent any formula build up. The formula milk is only for immediate consumption – no storage, no time for bacteria to flourish.

What type of water should I use?

We recommend using distilled water safe for infant consumption, as it helps reduce mineral build-up in your machine. However, we appreciate this isn’t always feasible so using pre-boiled & cooled tap water also works fine! Mineral buildup may develop quicker when using pre-boiled & cooled tap water so regular descaling will be necessary to ensure your Formula Pro Advanced continues to work effectively. Purchase the Baby Brezza Universal Descaling Tablets here for a quicker and easier descale.

Please note that bottled water is not recommended for preparing infant formula. It is not typically sterile and may contain elevated levels of sodium or sulphate, which are not suitable for your baby.

Can I mix two or more formulas together?

Unfortunately, this isn’t recommended. Each formula brand/type has its own specific powder-to-water ratio, and the Formula Pro Advanced is calibrated to dispense according to those precise settings.

If two different formula brands or types are mixed together, they may require different settings. As a result, the machine would not be able to deliver the correct formula-to-water ratio, which could affect the accuracy of each feed.

Can I use powdered breastmilk?

Powdered breast milk isn’t suitable for use with the Baby Brezza Formula Pro machines.

Because it’s uniquely formulated, we’re unable to determine the correct machine settings, the appropriate mixing ratio, or how the powder would dispense through the system. For these reasons, we recommend preparing powdered breast milk according to the manufacturer’s instructions to ensure safe and accurate feeding.
